2008 Roy Hobbs World Series Under-age Exemptions

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Roy Hobbs Baseball has reviewed and revised its under-age player exemptions for 2008.

In an effort to make those regulations more consistent throughout the divisions, teams in all divisions will be allowed to carry 3 under-age players.

With the exception of the Open Division (28+), under-age players will not be able to pitch at the Roy Hobbs World Series or Cactus Classic.  Pitching restrictions in the Open Division are unchanged - there are no restrictions during the first 4 games, after which under-age players must be competing in the AAAA Division in order to pitch.

The age drop is 3 years in the Open, Veterans and Masters Divisions; it is 2 years in the Legends, Classics and Seniors.  The reason is that the difference between the age cutoffs are smaller in the older divisions, i.e., 5 years as opposed to 10 years.

In all divisions, under-age players must reach the minimum age (25, 35, 45, 53, 58 and 63) no later than November 1.

Here is a look at the divisions, with specifics:

  • Open (28+) Division:  Teams allowed 3 players ages 25-26-27; under-age players must be 25 by November 1; Restrictions:  Pitching restrictions apply to games 5 through playoffs.
  • Veterans (38+) Division:  Teams allowed 3 players 35-36-37; under-age players must be 35 by November 1; Restrictions:  Under-age players may not pitch.
  • Masters (48+) Division:  Teams allowed 3 players 45-46-47; under-age players must be 45 by November 1; Restrictions:  Under-age players may not pitch.
  • Legends (55+) Division:   Teams allowed 3 players 53-54; under-age players must be 53 by November 1; Restrictions:  Under-age players may not pitch.
  • Classics (60+) Division:  Teams allowed 3 players 58-59; under-age players must be 58 by November 1; Restrictions:  under-age players may not pitch.
  • Seniors (65+) Division:  Teams allowed 3 players 63-64; players must be 63 by November 1; Restrictions:  under-age players may not pitch; players younger than 63 who participated in 2007 will be grand-fathered and included in the under-age total).
